If medication is part of your care, prescribing decisions, including for controlled substances such as stimulants or benzodiazepines, are based on a full evaluation I conduct with you via telehealth: your history, current symptoms, and clinical need. Because my practice is telehealth only, I don't perform in-person exams. Under current DEA rules, an in-person exam isn't required for me to prescribe controlled substances via telehealth, provided the prescription is for a legitimate medical purpose within the usual course of practice. That said, this is an evolving area of federal regulation, so if you have questions about how this applies to your specific medication needs, I'm happy to discuss it during your visit.
